3 Months Old!

Luke was officially 3 months old on Saturday. We can't believe how big he's getting! This weekend he began to sleep through the night from about 8 PM to 7 AM. Perfect timing since I went back to work today. I feel like I owe a special thank you to my friend Betsy! Betsy, is a friend from small group who's little girl, Corinne was born 3 days before Luke. Corinne has been successfully sleeping through the night and after I talked to Betsy about her night routine I moved Luke's bedtime back a little. Like magic he slept through the whole night without wanting to snack at 4 or 5 AM. Yeah Luke!!

Surfs up! We are ready for Summer and the beach. I promise the "spike" is still natural. We don't know what we'll do when it finally lays down...probably spike it back up!!

Here are a few of our favorite pictures from Saturday (and Sunday) as Luke began his third month of life...

After we take Luke out of his car seat he stays curled up with his bottom in the air...too cute!

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful time celebrating Luke's first Easter! He loved his Easter basket...especially the little chick that "peeps." Luke slept through the whole service at church while Mike and I really enjoyed the Easter message and the worship music. Luke was very happy during brunch after his nap at church and later on he was all smiles at dinner. We also enjoyed introducing him for the first time to his Uncle Dan, Great-Aunt Peggy, and cousins Jessie and Liam.

The Easter Bunny made a visit to our house.

Luke really got a kick out of the "peeping" chick.

Mmmm...tastes like chicken!

Hangin' with Uncle Dan.

Luke loves his Great Grandmas!

Luke has enjoyed being cuddled by all of his Great Grandmas over the past few weeks. He is very lucky to have three Great Grandmothers!

We Survived the Blizzard of '08

We had a BLIZZARD this weekend!! Not the kind from Dairy Queen with M&M's (which does sound pretty good right now) but a real blizzard with 12 inches of snow and winds at 30+ miles per hour. Cincinnati hasn't had a snow fall classified as an actual blizzard since the Blizzard of 1977. This was particularly crazy since last Monday I was out with Luke enjoying the sun and a balmy 65 degrees...and by Friday we were preparing for record snowfall!

I was supposed to take Luke for his 2 month appointment, but had to cancel due to snow. (We'll go Wednesday instead.) Mike came home early because his office closed at noon so that everyone could travel home safely. We spent the rest of the weekend cozy and warm in our house. With the extra time and no where to go I was compelled to cook...pancakes, chili, beer bread, peanut butter cookies, pizza... It was a very delicious snow storm. I'm sure Mike wishes we had a blizzard every weekend.

Getting our "baby bear" ready to go out in the snow.

It was still so cold outside!! Luke was not very happy to be out in the cold, but we were able to take just a few pictures before going back inside to warm up. You can see the snow still covering the street behind us.
Trying to stay warm.
Lily loves to play in the snow!

Fun With Foam

Sunday evening Mike and I enjoyed dinner with friends. Sam and Kaitlyn are a year older than Luke and had fun playing with Sam's cool foam wedges. Next year Luke will be able to play too, right now he just enjoys hanging out. Sam and Kaitlyn took a break from playing to pose with Luke for this picture. Aren't they cute!
Apparently squishy foam blocks are fun for all ages...

2 Months Old

The past two months have flown by! Luke was officially two months old on Friday, February 29th and we celebrated with dinner, cupcakes, and singing "Happy Birthday" with Papa, Nana, Auntie Kate and Auntie Sarah. We decided- why wait until one year- if we celebrate monthly we get to have cake 12 times! I am always looking for a good excuse to eat more cake ; ). Mike and I are enjoying every minute of life with our sweet baby boy and can't wait to see how much he grows and develops in the coming months!

Our "ladies man" can command a room with his precious smile. It is not uncommon to find all the aunties and grandparents gathered around him coaxing a grin or giggle. He is easy to love!

Check out my cool cowboy boots and cute pony! Thank you Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Jan!! I looked very stylish at church on Sunday.
Close up of boots ...
Luke and I spent most of the service on Sunday in the cry room with my friend Andrea and her baby Adam (who is just 3 days older than Luke). Both boys were hungry and weren't going to wait through any more of the service to eat! I missed the message but really enjoyed visiting with Andrea and Adam. I have a feeling this is not the last time we'll be visiting with them on Sundays ; ).

Auntie

Hi Aunt Jenny! Thanks for coming to visit me. Good luck at school. I can't wait to play this summer : ).
Love, Luke

Shopping!

Luke and I have been doing a lot of shopping lately (what a surprise!), but specifically to buy new longer and bigger sizes for the baby. He is getting big so quickly! I put away all of his 0-3 month clothes and he is now wearing 3-6 or 6 months. Amazing!! I had no idea how quickly he would grow out of his newborn clothes...some he never actually fit into : ). On Friday he goes to the doctor for his 2 month appointment, I can't wait to know how much more he has grown!

Luke is still smiling returning from an afternoon of sale shopping! It was very successful. He slept the whole time and I found some cute new clothes for our growing boy.

Roll Over...

...and over...and over..! We had so much fun the day we took this sequence of pictures of Luke's newest trick. Every time he rolled over we put him back on his tummy to do it again....until he was tired of tummy time and lay his little head down to suck his fingers in protest.

Luke's favorite toy is the "Happy Apple" in these pictures. He loves it and will coo and smile when he sees it!
